It is now technically feasible and economically viable to control virtually all
aspects of security for a major organisation from one location. That location
can be anywhere in the world.
That bold statement was made recently by Jim Patterson, Managing Director of
G4S Security Systems , one of Europes leading suppliers of network integrated security
systems. G4S Security Systems has been installing network security solutions for over 20

Jim states that whereas remote monitoring and control was very much the preserve
of the hi tech US organisation for many years, the recent dramatic advance in
IP technology allied to the rapid development of security products that work with
IP networks, has transformed both the financial viability and the speed of response
of the remote monitoring activity.
G4S Security Systems are now able to install network systems that allow their clients
to view all parts of their locations from one central location whether that central
location is in Blackpool or Bangladesh almost instantaneously in real time. Properly
designed and installed network systems will also permit access control of any
part of the building 24/7 from the same control centre.
The need to employ a large number of security guards across a large number
of sites is an activity that will diminish rapidly over the next 5 years.
